Hair transplant or derma rolling?
Baldness in men and women can lead to despair. What is going on when you go bald prematurely? What can you do about baldness ? In this blog we will tell you more about it. If you are suffering from hair loss, you will look for the best options. When does it still make sense to apply microneedling ? And when should you go for a hair transplant ? We will explain what the best option is for you.

Causes of hair loss
Hair loss has various causes, and often multiple causes play a role at the same time. It should also be said that not all causes have been mapped out yet. We know that the following factors can cause hair loss:
- genetic predisposition
- hormonal changes
- pregnancy
- medication use
- stress
- underactive thyroid
- smoking
- unhealthy lifestyle
- hair damage caused by hair dryer, straightener or dyeing
 Genetic predisposition
Genetic predisposition has to do with the DHT hormone. DHT is created by the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase (5-AR). This enzyme converts testosterone into DHT. Approximately 10% of all testosterone is converted into the DHT hormone daily.
DHT has important functions in the body and plays a role in the development and proper functioning of the sexual organs. In the case of hair follicles, however, it has a negative effect: it causes hair follicles to shrink and function less and less well, after which they eventually die.
Some people have more DHT receptors on their hair follicles due to genetic predisposition. This makes them more sensitive to that hormone. The hair follicles on the back of the head are usually insensitive to the DHT hormone. That is why we rarely see hair loss there, and why these hairs are often used in hair transplants.
Because men have more testosterone than women, and therefore a higher level of DHT hormone, this factor plays a bigger role in men. Nevertheless, it can certainly also cause hair loss in women.
Temporary Causes of Hair Loss
Factors such as stress and pregnancy are in principle temporary causes of hair loss. In the case of stress, excessive presence of cortisol (the stress hormone) can cause hair loss. When the stress is under control, the hair loss should stop and the hair should in principle grow back. In practice, however, we see that the hair sometimes does not grow back, despite the temporary cause no longer being present.
Microneedling or hair transplant?
In principle, microneedling and a hair transplant do completely different things. Microneedling has a stimulating effect on hair follicles, which activates them and causes hair to grow again. It can also encourage stem cells to form into hair follicles (formation of new hair follicles). Microneedling therefore only works when there are hair follicles and/or stem cells present in the area where hair loss is occurring. Usually, you are not yet completely bald and there are still hairs present.
If you are completely bald in a certain area, then a hair transplant is the only option. In a hair transplant, intact hair follicles are transplanted to the area where there is no hair at all.
So there is a clear dividing line between microneedling and a hair transplant: microneedling only works in an early stage where hair is already falling out excessively, but you are not yet completely bald. If there is no hair left in a certain area, then you can only have a hair transplant performed.
Hair Growth Cycle Explained
A hair follicle has different phases in a hair growth cycle: the anagen, telogen and catagen phase. In the anagen phase, the hair grows from the hair follicle. This is the growth phase. On average, this growth period lasts 9 to 12 weeks. However, due to various factors such as stress, hormonal changes or genetic predisposition, this can be considerably shorter.

Worse still, your hair follicle can enter the catagen phase prematurely . In this phase, a hair detaches from the scalp and receives less and less oxygen and nutrients. The hair is still attached to your skin and therefore does not fall out, but it can no longer grow.
After this, a hair follicle enters the telogen phase : this is also called the resting phase. In this phase, no new hairs grow. The hairs that had previously detached themselves from the follicles in the catagen phase fall out in this resting phase. Normally, the hair follicle then returns to the anagen phase and new hairs grow again. And the cycle starts again.
Dermarolling before and after hair transplant
Microneedling is also used to prepare the scalp for a hair transplant. Microneedling improves the blood circulation of the scalp, which allows implanted hair follicles to nestle better. With microneedling, or dermarolling, you can prepare your scalp and increase the chance of a more successful transplant.
After a period after the hair transplant, your doctor will also advise you to start dermarolling again to give the transplanted hair follicles extra strength. This keeps the hair follicles active and stimulates the further success of your precious hair transplant.

Benefits of dermarolling against hair loss
There are several independent studies known in which almost 82% of users indicated that they saw an improvement with consistent weekly use. Because that is a requirement. A derma roller treatment is performed to effectively prevent and even stop hair loss. Derma rolling helps with hair recovery from your hair roots. You can make your increasingly thinning hair thicker again by also using a good serum during derma rolling.
How do I make my hair grow again?
Can you make your hair thicker again?
Your hair thickness is genetically determined. So if you have thin hair, your hair will not necessarily become thicker. But if you take good care of your hair, you can still prevent thinning hair and hair loss. Your hair needs good care.
Collagen can help you with that. Collagen makes your hair follicles healthier and thus extends the life of your hair. Which means you get less hair loss .

Collagen combined with dermarolling with LAYZIN Serum 06 are very suitable to achieve your hair growth goal. There are special bundles so that you use the best for your hair:

Is hair transplantation the only option for you?
If you really have no hair left on your head, then a hair transplant is the only option if you want hair on your head again. For that we refer you to a clinic that specializes in that.
